  Words from the Editor’s Desk

Where did June go? I barely saw it leave. The summer is in full blast, and FEMMUSIC is not slowing down. Lots of things are in the works for next month's 3rd Year Anniversary Issue. There will be many surprises for both of us.
The more I try to stay away, the more I'm being asked to take part in events beyond the magazine. It's an honor I rarely refuse, but I'm beginning to feel like bubblegum on an airplane tire. I'm getting stretched pretty thin.
This month has become a focus on smaller, independent labels. It is an area and I group I support. Smaller labels have the time and commitment than some biggers labels lack. I hope you will enjoy some of their artists.
To begin with, I'm pleased to have Noe Venable. Noe was an honor to interview. She is what I what define as "real" and "natural." There are no soundbytes and what she says comes from the heart.
It is my pleasure to introduce FEMMUSIC's newest advertiser, Slip On Pocket. I heard about this company by chance. I consider the Slip On Pocket to be a simple idea with tons of uses and an ideal fit for the readers and performers of FEMMUSIC. I invite everyone to check them out at www.sliponpocket.com
This month I also caught up with an old and dear friend. She is a teacher. Teaching is one of the professions that will never pay enough but is filled with rewards. Talking with this friend I'm reminded how much FEMMUSIC is still a teacher and how much I have yet to learn. For your bravery alone, I salute you Kate.
As usual my mailbox is overflowing. If you've e-mailed me, please give me time. I'm trying to get to you but the summer keeps getting in the way. If you do want to send material please send it to:

Finally, I would like to welcome Tom to our staff. In the few days I've spoken with him I know he will amaze everyone. Now let's hope I remember July before it disappears.

Sincerely,
Alex Teitz
