FEMMUSIC’s Indie Songwriter Issue
FEMMUSIC’s June 2001 issue
features new surprises with distinct songwriters including Jonatha Brooke,
Alison Brown, Nancy Falkow, Katt Lowe and the Othersyde, Amelia’s Dream,
Katrina Carlson, Alice Peacock, and Abby Travis. FEMMUSIC only does two issues a

making the album and running her own independent label, Bad Dog Records.

Working in a studio can be a
huge benefit. Just ask Nancy Falkow, as FEMMUSIC did this month. Falkow is used
to answering questions as she also runs “Ask Nancy” at Women of MP3.com
Katt Lowe, from Katt Lowe and
the Othersyde, describes to FEMMUSIC an experience where she was turned down for
a gig as a vocalist because she was a woman.
Amelia, half of the duo
Amelia’s Dream, tells us how they created a CD that won’t bore listeners.
Katrina Carlson shares her
perspective on why she's writing music instead of working in politics.
Folk artist Alice Peacock gives
us her perspective on the differences between Chicago’s music scene and
LA’s.
